Ingredients
300 g Capital Ukrainian Sausage (Sliced)
1 tbsp Cooking Oil
1 tbsp Butter
1 cup Onions (Diced)
2 bags Pierogies (Frozen)
Garlic (Minced)
225 g Cream Cheese (Softened)
1/2 cup Chicken Broth
1/2 cup Milk
1/4 cup Sour Cream
1 tbsp Fresh Dill
1 tsp Salt
2 tsp Pepper
1 cup Cheddar Cheese (Grated)
3 Green Onions (Thinly Sliced)
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 375°f (190°c). If using a convection oven, set it to 400°f (200°c).
- In a skillet over medium-high heat, add olive oil. Sear the sliced Capital Ukrainian Sausage for 2-4 minutes until it develops a deep brown color.
- In the same skillet, add chopped onions, and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant and translucent.
- Turn the heat down to low. Add the chopped garlic to the onions and sausage, and stir for a minute before turning the heat off altogether.
- In a separate pan, start preparing the cream cheese sauce. Add the cream cheese to the pan over low heat. Stir in milk and chicken broth to achieve a creamy consistency.
- Once the cheese has melted, add in sour cream. Stir in the freeze-dried dill, salt, and pepper to taste.
- Lay a single layer of frozen pierogies in a baking dish. Spoon the Ukrainian sausage, onions, and garlic mixture over the pierogies.
- Pour the cream cheese sauce over the pierogi and sausage layer, ensuring even coverage.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake until the Pierogies are cooked through and everything is sizzling, about 30-40 minutes.
- Remove the foil, top generously with medium cheddar cheese, and broil until the cheese is melted and gooey.
- Top with freshly chopped green onions and serve hot.
